From a one-man craft business to an international metal company

Starting out in 1965 as a small one-man craft business in the Westerwald, the company has developed over the years into an international and high-performance metal company with 75 employees. Much has changed at Mudersbach since then, but what has remained is our enthusiasm for steel, our innovative strength and our independence as a committed family business, which is now managed by Bernd Mudersbach and Michel Mudersbach.

We attach great importance to value-oriented leadership and cultivate respectful and honest cooperation. As a traditional company, we are firmly anchored in our region, the Westerwald. We assume social responsibility and are committed to social projects such as Christian organisations, sports clubs or the preservation of the mining tradition in the Westerwald through donations and contributions.

Success does not come by chance

The success of a metal company is based on having exactly the skills available that are in demand at the moment. We are therefore aware of the importance of our employees and continuously invest in a sustainable personnel policy. As a recognised HWK training company, we pass on our knowledge and skills to future generations in our company. Every year we offer 1-2 apprenticeships for the profession of metalworker. We also provide for the next generation on the management side.

Since 2014, Michel Mudersbach, who studied industrial engineering, has been working in the company, supporting the team in all business areas and learning from his father, just as he did from his father before. Tradition and constant passion for steel – then as now.

As a contract manufacturer in the metal industry, we produce according to strict quality criteria that not only meet the high demands of our customers, but also our own standards. In our core business, metal processing and forming, we work exclusively for industry (B-to-B segment).

What particularly distinguishes us as a metal company: We manufacture everything!

There are only a few metal companies that can cover our service portfolio. While there may be a large number of competitors in our industry, some with bigger and possibly better machines, these companies are nowhere near covering our entire service portfolio, let alone having our years of experience or the breadth and depth of knowledge when it comes to processing steel and other metals.

Highest precision and reliability in forming technology

Only highly qualified employees are employed in our metal company. Designers with excellent specialist knowledge develop comprehensive, customised and economical solutions in steel manufacture, machine engineering, process vessels and equipment and plant engineering. In the production of cones and transition, folding, shearing and rolling we develop our full potential. Although we did not invent steel, we are happy to show you what can be made of it and offer the optimum solution for every project.

With a hall size of 8,000 m², a crane capacity of up to 100 t and our versatile machinery, which in addition to conventional options also has the latest CNC cutting and bending technology, we are ideally equipped for every project. We are constantly investing in the expansion of our machine technology in order to continue to operate successfully in the future.

Milestones in our company history

From the 60s until today.

  • 1965

    The beginnings

    In a converted barn in the centre of Friedewald, master locksmith Günter Mudersbach founds the company together with his partner Dieter Bieler.

  • 1966-1973

    Expansion of the portfolio

    Various investments are made in machines and the portfolio is slowly but steadily expanded.

  • 1970

    Structural changes

    Dieter Bieler leaves the company. Rudolf Gerhard becomes the new partner.

  • 1974

    Entering the crane business

    The first mobile crane is purchased. Mudersbach now also operates as a crane rental company.

  • 1976

    Expansion of the portfolio

    Acquisition of the first three-roll round bending machine.

  • 1978

    Land acquisition

    Bernd Mudersbach joins the company in this year.

    Acquisition of the site of the current company headquarters with subsequent demolition of the existing facilities of the former loading plant of a quarry.

  • 1982

    Hall construction

    Construction of the first production hall, which is still an essential part of manufacturing today.

  • 1983

    Portfolio expansion

    Acquisition of the first press brake.

  • 1986

    New generation

    Günter Mudersbach retires from the business.

    At the age of 27, Bernd Mudersbach takes over Gerhard’s shares and thus sole responsibility in the company.

  • 1989

    Company expansion

    The Mudersbach company becomes internationally active.

    The production area is further expanded and a production hall is extended by 225 m².

  • 1995

    Hall expansion

    Expansion of the production hall by a further 750 m².

  • 1997

    Mudersbach becomes a training company

    Hiring of the 1st apprentice in production in the occupational field of metal worker.

  • 1998

    Expanding the crane business

    Acquisition of further truck-mounted cranes.

  • 2000

    Expansion of production hall

    Expansion of a production hall by 1,600 m².

  • 2006

    Portfolio expansion

    Acquisition of the large Beyeler press brake; thus expansion of the portfolio in the area of “bending thick sheets”.

  • 2008

    Portfolio expansion and hiring boost

    Expansion of another production hall by 1,450 m² and a major hiring spurt of employees.

  • 2010

    Portfolio expansion

    Acquisition of the large bending machine Gräbener; thus expansion of the portfolio in the area of “production of large pipes, thick-walled and cones”.

  • 2014

    Entry of the junior boss

    Junior boss Michel Mudersbach, who studied industrial engineering, joins the company.

    After completion of the construction planning, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the new hall takes place at the end of the year.

  • 2015

    Completion new building

    Mudersbach GmbH & Co. KG celebrates its 50th anniversary!

    Completion of the new production hall. The new building is equipped with 2 indoor cranes, each with a capacity of 50+5 tons. The new production hall increases the total production area of Mudersbach by 1,600 m² to a total of 6,600 m².

  • 2016

    Mudersbach continues to grow

    Expansion of the company premises by approx. 3,000 m² of usable space.

    Acquisition of a new extraction system for more efficient extraction of gases during the processing of austenitic materials.

  • 2017

    Large investments and discontinuation of the crane business

    Acquisition of various machines: Two new forklift trucks (3 to and 7 to), two-bridge overhead crane 12.5 to, high-performance welding edge milling machine and a three-roll round bending machine for special pipes in the small area.

    After many successful years, the crane business is discontinued for economic reasons.

  • 2018

    Portfolio expansion

    Acquisition of a three-roll round bending machine from Stölting. The machine was specially designed for Mudersbach. The roller has a total of three exchangeable top rollers (170 mm + 120 mm) and a cone roller with a diameter of 75 mm.
